  • Assist in the provision of safe, clean, good-quality housing through competent property management

  • To ensure maintenance works are carried out in a clean and safe manner so as not to disturb the community

  • Working with subcontractors to maintain a clean workplace during and after contract work

  • Working in partnership with the community by keeping nuisance tenants to a minimum

  • To ensure the upkeep of good quality housing

  • Using materials which are durable, economic and don’t require significant amounts of energy to produce

  • Consider as a first option, the use of recycled materials where possible, e.g. in construction, materials and redevelopment sites against Greenfield sites

  • Eco-design solutions: reducing the environmental impacts of a product or a service at the design stage. For e.g. using less materials and energy; substituting toxic materials for non-toxic materials; designing a product that can be disassembled at the end of its useful life and its components re-used or recycled

  • Local sourcing of labour and materials to reduce energy consumption

  • Assisting in the supply of housing in order to contribute to the wider community

  • Working in partnership with suppliers and customers to promote effective and meaningful environmental best practice

  • Adopting sustainable drainage systems, including liaising with SEPA, water authorities and the local community

  • Adapting measures to prevent pollution and adverse impacts on the environment and local community

  • Training staff, suppliers and contractors in awareness of environmental legislation, regulations, British standards and good practice

  • Minimising waste and reusing and recycling wherever possible

  • Adopting energy-efficient plants and materials

  • Balancing economic viability with environmental and social responsibility to provide lifetime design solutions

  • Developing a management system that demonstrates continual improvements in environmental and health and safety performance
